Description: This layer represents the boundary approved on July 10, 2018 by the Carlsbad City Council encompassing both the Village and Barrio, two of Carlsbad’s oldest neighborhoods, per the new Village and Barrio Master Plan. The plan establishes a vision for future development and land uses in these two neighborhoods over the next 20 . The new rules took effect on Aug. 24, 2018, except for parts of the Village that are in the coastal zone. Those will require Coastal Commission approval, which may occur in 2019.
