Current Version
Service Description:

Abstract: Full Metadata This map estimates non-cancer respiratory risk (hazard quotient) due to chromium VI (hexavalent) air toxics from the National Air Toxics Assessment. A hazard quotient is defined as the ratio of the potential exposure to the substance and the level at which no adverse effects are expected. A hazard quotient less than or equal to one indicates that adverse noncancer effects are not likely to occur, and thus can be considered to have negligible hazard.

This hosted feature layer includes a selection of the National Air Toxics Assessment (NATA) 2014 estimates of ambient concentrations and health-effect results by 2010 census tracts, counties, and states. Although this service uses 2014 NATA data, the underlying Census tracts are 2010 augmented with 2011 Census tracts for VI plus Bedford City, VA into Bedford County VA. This dataset is based on data from 2014 NATA, which was produced by the US EPA to estimate health risks from toxic air pollutants. It was modified for incorporation into the EnviroAtlas Compare My Area tool. The NATA results are available as downloadable data from https://www.epa.gov/national-air-toxics-assessment/2014-nata-assessment-results.
