Composite_Vulnerability_Index (FeatureServer)

View In:   Map Viewer

Service Description: This dataset represents a composite climate vulnerability index calculated at the census block group level. The index integrates multiple climate hazards and equity indicators to identify areas where residents may experience heightened climate risk and reduced adaptive capacity. The index combines four components: • Heat exposure derived from the Heat Vulnerability Index • Wildfire risk based on the proportion of each block group located within wildfire risk zones • Flood risk based on the proportion of each block group located within FEMA flood hazard zones • Boulder's racial equity index representing demographic and socioeconomic factors associated with increased vulnerability to climate hazards Each component was normalized to allow comparison across variables and combined into a composite score. Final scores were grouped into five categories representing relative vulnerability levels across the city.
