Description: This map is a collaborative effort involving four group members, analyzing possible mountain top removal sites from an areal image. For each group, an area was given and borken down into quarters. Each was analyzed seperately and then compiled into one shapefile. The hydrology for the area was also created, showing the flow and possible erosion of the neighboring streams and river.
During my analyses, ERDAS was used to select areas of possible mountain top removal, given their contrast to the surrounding environment. Our analysis was compared to previous areas that were deemed removal sites. With the comparison, based on 30 randomly generated points, I had an accuracy of 87%. The total acreage of MTR sites in my area was 7,918.73.
