Service Description: The authorised landfill site is a spatial (polygon) dataset containing the boundaries of landfill sites which are currently authorised by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) under The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010. The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations provide industry, regulators and others with a single extended permitting and compliance system. Landfill permits were previously authorised by a Waste Management Licence, or a Pollution Prevention and Control (PCC) Permit, which have subsequently become Environmental (EPR) Permit, and are recorded within a NRW database. Pre 1996 landfill sites data in Wales was managed and collated by Local Authorities, this duty was then transferred to Environment Agency, and was taken over by NRW in 2013.
