Description: <span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:Arial; font-size:12px; text-align:center;">Redlining is a process the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation gave neighborhoods to guide investment in the 1930’s. “Hazardous” neighborhoods were coded as red and were deemed riskiest. Often, these neighborhoods were predominantly in communities of color as the “hazardous” ranking included racial demographics. In redlined areas, it was hard for residents to get home ownership and maintenance loans. Despite these policies no longer existing, the legacy of long-term disinvestment can still be seen today.
