Description: <p style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:1.5rem; font-family:&quot;Avenir Next W01&quot;, &quot;Avenir Next W00&quot;, &quot;Avenir Next&quot;, Avenir, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif; font-size:16px;">The Hydrologic Forecast Centre (HFC) issues several categories of flood alerts throughout the year including, river flooding due to snowmelt and rainfall, wind and wave induced shoreline flooding and ice pileup, and rainfall induced overland flooding. This layer demonstrates the location and/or extend of current alerts due to wind and wave effects on major lakes. The types are defined below:</p><p style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:1.5rem; font-family:&quot;Avenir Next W01&quot;, &quot;Avenir Next W00&quot;, &quot;Avenir Next&quot;, Avenir, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif; font-size:16px;"><b>High Wind Effect Alert</b>: These are issued when static lake levels are forecast to increase by 0.9 – 1.5 m and wave action is expected to be significant. Alerts will be issued with a description of the general area and waterbody, with more detailed extents available on the published Wind Effect Alert Map.</p><b><span style="font-family:Aptos, sans-serif; font-size:11pt; line-height:15.6933px;">Severe Wind Effect Alert</span></b><span style="font-family:Aptos, sans-serif; font-size:11pt; line-height:15.6933px;">: These are issued when static lake levels are forecast to increase by more than 1.5 m and wave action is expected to be very significant and forceful. Alerts will be issued with a description of the general area and waterbody with more detailed extents available on the published Wind Effect Alert Map. </span>
