Description: The shapefile contains spatial data for sites surveyed between 2013 and 2015 as part of the tidal bass survey. At each site, the composition of the fish community was recorded by its presence. The composition of fishes was evaluated for the importance of species in the diet of largemouth bass. Published resources and gut contents work conducted for largemouth bass were used to help identify species that are important in the diets of largemouth bass. In some cases, species were aggregated to the level of genus because of redundancy in morphology and because accurate species identification for some species were occassionally difficult. Based upon occurrence of species, important species in diets of bass, and aggregation of some species to genus, the following 11 taxonomic groups were considered as fish forage for largemouth bass: Lepomis, Dorosoma, Notemogonus, Crassius, NOtropis, Fundulus, Amerius, Morone, Etheostoma, Perca, and Media. A reference community was one that contained representatives of each of those taxonomic groups. The composition of all sampled fish communities was compared to the reference community using a Jaccard's Index of Similaritiy. Higher values indicate greater similarity, with a value of 1.0 representing a site with a species composition that was exactly the same as the reference community. The Jaccard's Index was considered the Fish Forage Index, reflecting variation in the richness of fish forage species among sites.
