The Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation are studying the entire length of the Interstate 81 corridor in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will receive briefings during the study time frame. Briefings from May, July, and September 2018 are currently available.

Feedback provided by members of communities, industries and other stakeholders will be considered as team members are preparing a draft plan report following the completion of the study. The team and the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) plan to report findings to the General Assembly in December, prior to the opening of Session in January 2019.

To get involved, review the study documents and projects recommended for your area and provide feedback now through November 30, 2018.

The third and final series of meetings, which focused on recommended packages of improvements, wrapped up on Oct. 25, 2018. The first round of meetings was held in June and the second was held in August.
