Description: This dataset, published by the Springs Stewardship Institute (SSI), is a compilation of available data for Arizona springs within and surrounding the North Kaibab Ranger District of Kaibab National Forest. These data are created to serve as base information for use in GIS systems and mapping applications developed by SSI. These products can be used for a variety of planning and analysis purposes, but may contain duplicates and are incomplete. Data were provided by the Arizona State Land Office, Grand Canyon Trust, Grand Canyon Wildlands Council, Brown and Moran (1979), Glenn Rink, Jeri Ledbetter, Larry Stevens, the US Forest Service, and the Museum of Northern Arizona. Data were compiled for educational and conservation purposes only by the SSI. Access is available to the US Forest Service and collaborators who have contributed to its development. Funding for data compilation and surveys was provided by Kaibab National Forest through a contract with the Museum of Northern Arizona. Additional funding for springs surveys was provided by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust through several grants to Grand Canyon Wildlands Council. Many volunteers participated in the surveys, including students of Dr. Abe Springer of Northern Arizona University, Dr. Dave Kramer and Melissa Schaar of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and Dr. Douglas Miller of Pennsylvania State University.
