Service Description: The purpose of the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) is to implement effective and consistent water resource planning, development, and management across central Florida. Since 2013, the St. Johns River Water Management District has collaborated with the South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, local utilities, and other stakeholders to address regional water supply challenges.
A joint regional water supply plan was adopted in November 2020 for the CFWI planning area, which includes Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Polk counties, as well as southern Lake County.
