Service Description: Map boundary of the part of the Central Florida Water Initiative Water Supply Planning Area that falls within the SJRWMD extent.
Includes all of or part of Seminole, Lake, Orange, and Osceola Counties.
The purpose of the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) is to implement effective and consistent water resource planning, development, and management across central Florida. Since 2013, the St. Johns River Water Management District has collaborated with the South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, local utilities, and other stakeholders to address regional water supply challenges.
A joint regional water supply plan was adopted in November 2020 for the CFWI planning area, which includes Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Polk counties, as well as southern Lake County.

The Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) represents a collaborative, multi-agency effort to ensure sustainable water resource planning and management in central Florida. Initiated in 2013, the initiative brings together the St. Johns River, South Florida, and Southwest Florida water management districts, along with DEP, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, local utilities, and other stakeholders.
The CFWI planning area includes Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Polk counties, and southern Lake County. In November 2020, the three water management districts jointly adopted a regional water supply plan to address long-term water needs and resource protection in this rapidly growing region.
