Service Description: A levee centerline is defined as the centerline of the earthen berm portion of a flood control system. This data set represents the centerlines of 4 types of levees, as defined below: 1. SJRWMD Levees: These are levees under the ownership, control and maintenance of the St. Johns River Water Management District 2. Federal: These are federal levels, typically under the ownership, control and maintenance of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Dataset is as delivered to Land Management in 2012. 3. Private: Often referred to as "Farm Levees", these levees are under the ownership, control and maintenance of landowners proximal to the Upper St. Johns River Basin marsh system. 4. Unknown: under the ownership, control and maintenance of these levees is unknown.

In 2024.04, geometry and field attribute, domain schema changes and additions were completed by OIT-GIS team per Operations & Maintenance staff, who are the account content owner. The geometry request was to merge levee segments per each levee name.
In 2017, this database was updated to include 3 levee segments that have been downloaded from the 2012 NLD (National Levees Database):L-212 (5.42 miles): This portion divides the Ocklawaha River from Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area. Has been turned over to SJRWMD for maintenance. Ocklawaha River Basin C231 (7.23 miles): This portion divides the Ocklawaha River from the Sunnyhill Restoration Area. Has been turned over to SJRWMD for maintenance. L-78: This is the tail end of a federal levee in USJRB.
