Service Description: These data layers were originally digitized by the City of Houston Planning and Development Department, GIS Services Division from United States Geographic Survey 1:24000 quad sheets. It was created in 1985, and updated in 1989 using a calculated distance from the city limit line. Portions of the Houston ETJ necessary to build a fully accurate ETJ were updated from legal descriptions in 1997 and in 2008. The legal descriptions originate from the Planning and Development Department Director's Office; their legality is established with the approval of the Houston City Council.
