Description: In 2016-2017, TriMet added sidewalk attributes ("tags") to almost all streets in the TriMet transit district in OpenStreetMap (OSM) in its seven-county-area of interest. Separate sidewalk geometries were not added to OSM; rather, a sidewalk tag with a value of both, left, right, or no was added to all street centerlines that were not yet tagged. Bing imagery was used as a reference in the Salem area, but we have plans to do QA/QC in 2018 using the higher resolution, more recent Esri World Imagery layer, which was released to the OSM community in August 2017. Note that this queary includes service streets and motorways (ala highways), even though we did not add sidewalk tags to these street types. Also note that the left/right direction is relative to the direction of the street segment (the order in which nodes are drawn). Segment direction isn't as easily viewed in ArcMap as in the JOSM editor, but it is still present in the data.
