Description: The State Land Inventory (Mineral Registry) layer contains a representation of property owned by the various State of Oregon agencies and tracks whether that ownership is surface only, subsurface only, or surface and subsurface rights. It does not include information about the extent of subsurface ownership. The originating deed will need to be referenced to ascertain whether there are any reservations or exceptions that effect ownership rights. The polygons within this layer are derived from County Assessor tax lot data. The State Land Inventory (previously known as the Mineral Registry within Dept. of State Lands) layer is the operational layer for DSL's management obligations for State owned subsurface or mineral interests. The original information in this layer reflected the efforts of research conducted at each County Assessor Office of State owned lands that included mineral rights. This was performed by a consultant hired by the Oregon Department of State Lands and conducted in 1992-93. The original mapping effort was to map those properties where a State agency owned surface and subsurface rights or where an agency owned only subsurface rights. It did not include those properties where a state agency owns only surface rights or properties within Urban Growth Boundaries. The current data has been expanded to include all State property ownership.
