Description:

This dataset contains a composite index calculated for residential communities in the City of Calgary using ArcGIS Pro. The index integrates three normalized variables:

Household income (2025) derived from Esri Enrichment,

Total or aggregated residential building area, and

Mean solar radiation derived from a LiDAR‑based solar radiation model.

Each variable was transformed into a percentile rank to standardize units and ranges. Percentile ranks were then combined using an equal weighting scheme (weight = 1 for all variables). The final composite index value for each community represents the mean of the percentile ranks, producing a dimensionless score that reflects relative solar‑socioeconomic potential.

Higher index values indicate communities with comparatively higher household income, greater building area, and higher modeled solar radiation potential relative to other communities in the city. All values are relative and intended for comparison purposes only.
