Some locations may show an absence of archaeological sites despite a site being locally known. Site are only denoted when it has been officially recorded and submitted to the Utah State Historic Preservation Office (UTSHPO).

The dataset should provide a cursory view of whether or not an archaeological site(s) has been recorded at a particular lcoation

The dataset is generalized to protect the locations of archaeological sites. Archaeological sites are classified as protected under State GRAMA and federal NHPA and exempted under federal FOIA.

The dataset was created to promote compliance with State and federal cultural resource laws.
