This is a line dataset of linear State Water Project assets, such as canals, pipelines, check structures, penstocks, siphons, tunnels, reservoirs, power plants, and pumping plants as defined in O&M's SWP Asset Register. The linear features were digitized from a combination of atlas dataset i17_StateWaterProject_Centerline, NAIP 2022 aerial photography and georeferenced design drawings. Each feature has been assigned an SWP Asset Register Object ID, Functional Location, Asset Description, Asset Level, and Asset Type. The Object ID serves as a unique identifier. The Asset Register is a hierarchical system and assets of a higher level will often overlap with "child" assets of a lower level. For example, pool assets overlap with different canal or pipeline assets because pools are Level 4 and canals and pipelines are Level 5.
This dataset has relationship classes with four other tables:
i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table1_Conveyance_Lines
i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table2_Pools
i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table3_Plants
i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table4_Reservoirs
These tables are digital versions of SWP Blue Book tables 1-4 and are related through the Asset Register Object ID field. The tables contain additional information on conveyance lines, pools, power and pumping plants, and reservoirs that come specifically from the Blue Book.
The ultimate goal is for this dataset to contain all the linear features in the SWP and in the Asset Register. However, there are several assets that are known to be missing and these will be addressed in updates over time. Missing assets are as follows:
Peace Valley Pipeline Inlet, Castaic PP Penstocks, Castaic Lake Penstocks, Yucaipa Pipeline, Mentone South Pipeline, Mentone East Pipeline, Tehachapi Tunnel 2 Transition, Santa Ana Pipeline Transition, Polonio Pass Treatment Plant Valve, Pool W4, Tank Site 5 Terminus (2 Tanks) [Coastal Branch], Canal between entering into Thermalito Afterbay, Gorman Creek Siphon, Hungry Valley Siphon 2A, Hungry Valley Siphon 2B, Side Hill Siphon, CHPS Forebay, Crafton Hills Reservoir Outlet Works, Crafton Hills Reservoir Inlet Works
In addition, the location of the Grizzly Valley Pipeline is uncertain and only an approximate centerline is provided.
This dataset is current as of 3/20/2024.
