Its main purpose is to provide additional information regarding traffic stress to the users of the application. Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) is a metric used to evaluate how "stressful" a given street is to bike on, based on physical attributes of the roadway and bicycle facilities, if any. The LTS process ingests a variety of roadway characteristics, such as the presence or absence of bike facilities, numbers of lanes, and roadway speeds, and assigns a value of 1 (lowest stress) to 4 (highest stress) to street segments based on these characteristics.
